The role
As a First Line Manager - Constructive, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock Devonport are seeking experienced Construction Line Managers to join our team at Devonport, Plymouth. This is your chance to contribute to some highly complex engineering projects.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for managing production resources to achieve programme, quality and safety targets. You'll ensure that all allocated resources in your team are suitably qualified and experienced for the task allocated. You'll also ensure the day-to-day compliance with corporate and nuclear safety requirements, including the completion of quality documentation, and be responsible for managing the health and safety processes for your team and the wider workplace.

  • Following and promoting control of work processes.
  • Ensuring the work place is safe at all times and meets appropriate health, safety and environment standards.
  • To manage the care and growth of a team with reference to time, performance, behaviours and quality.
  • Providing technical guidance in relation to your area of expertise.
  • Take ownership and deliver the project objectives to schedule and quality in accordance with company processes and procedures.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.


Essential experience of the First Line Manager - Constructive

  • Required to have a good understanding of health and safety processes associated with production activities.
  • Required to have experience in supervising a team or be prepared to learn.
  • Experience of repair/replace/overhaul/maintenance processes.
  • Good leadership qualities and interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Have a good understanding of all constructive aspects (fabrication and welding)

Qualifications for the First Line Manager - Constructive

  • ONC, NVQ Level 3
  • ILM Level 3
  • IOSH
