The role

As a Functional Estimator, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Your primary responsibility is producing the labour and material estimating of the Core Ship Programme. Within the diverse workload, you will have elements of estimating ownership, primarily within the electrical discipline however, you may be tasked with constructional and mechanical estimates.

Day to day, you'll:

* Examine work specifications and interpret the content of the individual worklist and drawings to produce cost estimates.
* Represent Department at meetings prior to the commencement of formal project bids/estimates as required and, ensure that all bids are in line with the breakout amending as necessary.
* Carry out detailed checks on completed estimates to confirm that they meet customers' requirements and always protect the company's interest, creating and entering technical operations for all elements of work into the Corporate Estimating System.
* Raise spec queries for any ambiguous or contentious points to clarify the customers' requirement
* Liaise with and identify the requirements of all trades and cost such work, by liaising with Project Managers, Production Managers and Zone Production Managers (ZPM) to ascertain the viability of the estimates.

Essential experience of the Functional Estimator,

* Demonstrable experience in a Production or Engineering
* Good communication
* Problem solving
* Logical Thinker
* Proficient in IT especially Excel

This role provides hybrid working where you will be required to attend the site when the project demands.

Qualifications for the Functional Estimator,

* GCSE or equivalent in Maths, English

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
