The Functional Integration Engineer role will involve the completion of all the compatibility activities required to integrate and test munition equipment for the subsequent D&M phase.

Salary: Circa £50,000 depending on experience 

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:


PROVING ENGINEER – Munition Compatibility   

Reporting to the FC/ASW Head of Functional Integration, you will be involved in the completion of all the compatibility activities required to integrate and test munition equipment for the subsequent D&M phase.

This role will need to work closely with the FC/ASW system design team to ensure that the missile flat rig & prototype equipment is managed in line with the quality and configuration requirements to be suitably representative of the final product.

The Engineer will need to operate real-time simulator test equipment by generation of functional test scripts that control the interface between the munition and simulated model. The engineer may need to define interfacing equipment between the product and the test setup.

The structure of the FC/ASW ISV proving team is laid out as Functional Integration/Firing Trials/Ground Trials/Trial Support Equipment. This role involves Functional Integration of the munition but is not limited to this area. Opportunities are available at Weapon System level and in other areas of the ISV team.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Experience of product integration and test utilising electrical test equipment and serial data analysis tools.
  • Experience of common serial data communication protocols, including IEEE.802 Ethernet, EIA-485, or MIL-STD-1553.
  • An understanding of Model-Based Systems engineering and its application to functional demonstration.
  • An understanding on Linux based real-time operating systems and processing timing architectures desirable. 
  • Knowledge translating written test instructions to automated scripts using a library of real time building blocks in a Linux environment desirable.
  • A willingness to undergo national security and vetting to achieve DV Clearance.
