Due to continued growth and internal changes, an exciting and outstanding opportunity has arisen to be a part of the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Executive Senior Management Team as the Head of Mechanical Design and Analysis.

Job Title: Head of Mechanical Design and Analysis UK

Salary: Competitive depending on experience 

Location: Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

Collaborating with the Group Director of Mechanical Engineering, the role is a key contributor to the successful delivery of the Mechanical Engineering strategy at UK Operations and Group level. The role has influence at all levels (non-exec through to director) at both local and international levels

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of the Mechanical Design activities on a range of development contracts. You will be required to lead and develop the Mechanical Design entity to provide professional mechanical design and technology expertise to produce cost effective design solutions for MBDA products throughout their life cycle.

This role is also responsible for setting out the strategy for Mechanical Engineering Design and Analysis across Weapon Systems, Missiles and Equipment. This includes the implementation of new design and manufacturing techniques for sophisticated airframes

• This role is responsible for the delivery of Mechanical Design activities on a large number of programmes to programme, cost and performance.
• You will be required to ensure the development of competitive mechanical solutions – focussing on UPC, Modularity and Reuse
• You will establish and empower empowered teams to undertake and achieve tasks to committed specifications, timescales and costs. This is across a range or programmes and for a variety of fields (airframe design, canisters, pyros, ground equipment, configuration control)
• You will be required to handle the entity cost base to meet or beat agreed budget.
• Establishing and implementing processes to ensure that department human and physical resources are accurately matched to the business needs is an important aspect of this role
• Collaborate on a regular basis with Mechanical Design in MBDA France, to see opportunities for further UK/Fr integration
• Required to identify and develop the technologies for future weapon system.
• As a key Executive Leader in the business, you will be required to drive the function vision and strategy, and build a department vision which is consistent with this
