As owners of Wales and England’s electricity transmission network, we’re driving the move to Net Zero. One of the key milestones on our journey is the delivery of 50GW of offshore wind by 2030. We’re looking for talented engineers to play a vital part in helping us to deliver this.

You’ll benefit from our industry-leading training from the very first day and regardless of your experience, you will begin individually tailored programme to take you through our safety authorisations. Once you have the necessary safety authorisations in place you’ll progress to becoming a Substation Engineer in our North Kent Team. Your development and training will continue, you will be surrounded by a fantastic team of experienced and professional Engineers that will support your development and progression every step of the way, with the aim of becoming a Commissioning Engineer, and eventually an Advanced Commissioning Engineer.

As an Advanced Commissioning Engineer, you will continuously strive to improve the transmission network by applying your experience and knowledge of the existing technologies which underpin it, such as, GIS switch gear and SF6 technology, Circuit breakers in all their variations, HV equipment and switchgear, but not just existing technologies, also a great opportunity to be part of the transition and implementation of new technologies to transform the grid, such as, Hydrogen, solar, wind, AI and digitalisation, in order to play an integral role in the energy transition.

What are the requirements?

Substation Engineer – Minimum Level 3 (ONC) Engineering qualification

Commissioning/Advanced Commissioning Engineer – Minimum Level 4 (HNC) Engineering qualification

You’ll be a professional, diligent engineer with the drive and enthusiasm to deliver solutions, with a can-do approach and a desire to get things right first time, but above all, you need to have a passion for engineering.
