About the job

We are the future of modern luxury

We are the pioneers creating the next-generation of outstanding vehicles, founded on modern luxury. Each and every one of us are shaping the exceptional with soul. We are reimagining the driving of tomorrow and redefining what’s possible.

We are the future of movement.

We can’t wait to see what you can do with us.

Industrial Operations: Manufacturing

Manufacturing sits within our new Industrial Operations function. Our Industrial Operations function incorporates all teams across manufacturing, purchasing and supply chain and consolidates accountability for the complete ecosystem of how we produce our vehicles, in one place.

Manufacturing is at the very heart of Jaguar Land Rover, with thousands of vehicles being created every day across our production facilities. Here you will have the opportunity to influence the future of manufacturing. This award-winning scheme is aimed at graduates who have a passion for learning and a pioneering mindset: ambitious, innovative and determined individuals who respect our heritage and can think beyond the challenges of today to build the cars of tomorrow. With a blend of hands-on experience and qualifications to target, you will work on projects that are fundamental to our global success.

On the Industrial Operations: Manufacturing Graduate Programme in the West Midlands you could work in one of the following departments: Manufacturing Engineering (ME), Manufacturing Programme Management (MPM), Solihull Plant Materials, Planning & Logistics (MP&L), Solihull Plant Trim and Final. You will be allocated to a department based on personal preferences and business need.

Manufacturing Engineering (ME)

Our ME team is responsible for the design, installation and commissioning of manufacturing facilities and processes to build the modern luxury vehicles of the future. Join us and it will be your responsibility to ensure that our manufacturing plant teams have the equipment they need to deliver vehicles in the right quantities and to the highest quality standards.

The team is split across five main technology areas: bodyshop, paintshop, final assembly, powertrain and logistics, construction & manufacturing research. Wherever you join us, you could find yourself focusing on a range of technical disciplines: process & industrial engineering, dimensional systems engineering, design integration engineering, facilities engineering, logistics engineering, construction engineering, manufacturing research and powertrain.

Quickly gaining real-world experience, you will play a key role in transforming our brands as we realise some ambitious electrification targets.

Manufacturing Programme Management (MPM)

MPM drives the business by uniting cross-functional teams through our end-to-end sustainable manufacturing process. Learning how we satisfy customers at every stage of manufacturing, you will help us deliver products that meet stretching cost, quality and time targets. Liaising constantly with manufacturing engineering, project engineering and quality stakeholders, you will enjoy both in-role learning and structured training to develop you into a well-rounded manufacturing programme engineer.

In particular, you will discover how to track programmes against timing plans as you resolve manufacturing issues to deliver feasible solutions on time, every time. To this end, you will become an expert in Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA): collating, co-ordinating and analysing technical and investment inputs for Programme Gateway submission, while focusing on costs per unit.

Solihull Plant: Materials, Planning & Logistics (MP&L)

MP&L manages the logistics and flow of parts from suppliers around the globe. We specialise in supplier management, material flow, parts delivery and vehicle planning for each production hall and the operational management of our third-party logistics providers.

During this programme, you will learn what it takes to deliver the high-quality logistics operating model of the future and become an experienced member of the plant MP&L team. Working in a range of different environments, using a mixture of logistics toolsets, you will study problem-solving and data analysis techniques – rapidly developing your knowledge whilst providing comprehensive support to your team.

Solihull Plant: Trim and Final

Our Trim and Final team is responsible for ensuring we optimise our equipment to meet production order volumes and exacting quality and cost targets. Based in the central planning office, you will utilise multiple data streams to identify underperforming assets and implement improvement activities. You will also spend much of your time in our operations area, learning about the day-to-day running of the business and how we are transforming for the future.

What’s required?

You will need to hold or be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in mechanical, industrial or manufacturing engineering, or aeronautical or automotive engineering if you have a strong interest in manufacturing. We may also require civil engineers for construction roles.

You will have a real passion for problem solving and the curiosity to understand business challenges and deliver innovative solutions. You will also have strong numerical and interpersonal skills and the confidence to champion new initiatives.

Rewards and benefits

We haven’t yet confirmed our 2023 graduate programme salary, but in 2022 this was £29,000. You’ll also receive a £2,000 joining bonus to welcome you to Jaguar Land Rover, plus a generous holiday allowance, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, an excellent pension scheme and access to a wide range of deals and discounts from retailers and sports clubs.

Apply now

You will use your innovation and creativity to the full every day as you develop all the skills for a fast-moving career. With ongoing support from industry-leading experts, backed by continual learning opportunities, you’ll quickly realise that our programmes are as inspiring as the vehicles you’ll help to create.

Please be aware that we close our programmes at any point and at short notice based on the volume of applications. To give yourself the best chance of being considered for a place on this programme please apply early.
