WHAT TO EXPECT

The Opportunity

Working within the infotainment Hardware Squad.  The purpose of this role is to ensure that the electronic modules developed by the squad, are completely integrated within the vehicle platform they are being fitted to.  This includes looking at the mechanical/ environmental packaging and the electrical integration. The need to integrate modules can occur for number of reasons i.e. hardware changes due to the global IC shortage or the introduction of new modules as part of JLRs introduction of new infotainment technologies and architectures.
 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Ensure product development vehicle test activities are completed in line with program schedules
• Working with JLR packaging teams to ensure all modules are packaged correct.
• All changes are reviewed with all supported car lines to ensure cross car line compatibility
• Working with lead engineer to agree component delivery plans from external suppliers.
• Support release engineer with release approvals and change requests
• Working with JLR plant procurement teams to agree change over dates
• Writing instructions for the plant teams to perform any updates to modules before vehicles are shipped to customers
• Working with release strategy Lead Engineer to organise Line trials in plant for new modules.
• Reviewing and updating the wiring harness drawings (DTs) for the supported vehicle platform.
  • Investigating and resolving Headunit issues related to performance in the supported vehicle platform.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience of working with a 3D CAD tool for modelling mechanical parts
  • Appreciation of in-vehicle electronic hardware.
  • Formal education in electronics or equivalent subject
  • Previous experience of working with external suppliers 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications in English
  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience working with an external company to deliver an electronic module

Desirable:

  • Experience of using Catia for 3D modelling  
  • Formal qualification in electronic engineering 
  • Experience in designing electronics for automotive applications 
  • Appreciation of in-vehicle electronic hardware.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
