The Naval Architecture team sits within the Maritime and Land business of QinetiQ. The team delivers hydrodynamic testing and design consultancy services. Hydrodynamic problem solving forms a significant part of the project work within group - identifying a methodology for solving a client's hydrodynamic issues, mathematically or through model testing.
The role:
The primary focus of the Junior Naval Architect job will be the delivery of technical projects relating to surface ship and submarine hydrodynamic subject areas. The likely areas of interest include propulsor and propeller design, dynamic stability, quasi-static stability, seakeeping, resistance and propulsion. The work will include use of QinetiQ's hydrodynamic facilities and industry standard or bespoke numerical simulation tools.
The Junior Naval Architect role will require presenting work to internal forums and coordinating with Project Managers and technical leads to deliver the work to time, cost and quality. Participation in business support activities will also be required including bidding and planning activities through the provision of task estimates and breakdowns of task descriptions.

As a Naval Architect, you will be able to work from a Hybrid working model from home. You will also have flexibility over your working start and finish times.
Qualifications for the Junior Naval Architect:
You should have a qualification in Naval Architecture or any relevant qualification with an appreciation for Maritime.
Please note that all applicants must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
