WHAT TO EXPECT

Join our team of next generation thinkers here at JLR for an exciting new opportunity. We are looking for a forward thinking, Lead Power Electronics Engineer who will be responsible for leading all Hybrid Traction Inverter Current Car topics at Jaguar Land Rover. This will involve managing a number of live topics through the engineering cycle, defining and delivering a successful plan, steering our Tier 1 suppliers and co-ordinating cross-functional resource from across the business. In addition, the Lead Power Electronics Engineer will be responsible for ensuring we continuously improve our Power Electronics quality and continue to enable our retailers and field teams to be as effective as possible when resolving Power Electronics related topics on our hybrid vehicles.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 You will act as the primary engineering interface between JLR stakeholders and Tier 1 suppliers for all post start of sale inverter activities, You will manage hardware and / or software changes (driven by internal requirements changesm JLR or other) from supplier implementation through to JLR production - including BoM releases and commercials where appropriate. You will also the planning and resource allocation of the current car inverter team to deliver effectively whilst also meeting the expectations of the quality stakeholders. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

The ideal candidate will have an Agile mindset and experience of working as part of an Agile squad. They will have experience within Power Electronics, leading or managing people, and experience with problem solving methodologies. Desirable skills for this role include ECU diagnostics knowledge – Including knowledge of what a robust DTC looks like and how to integrate associated data, Lean Six Sigma Yellow, Green or Black belt training (or other equivalent training), and ETAS and Vector toolsets experience.

 

Knowledge Skills and Experience

  • Experience with managing Tier 1 suppliers
  • Team Ledership capabilities
  • Experience solving issues using standardised problem solving tools and methodologies (e.g. 8D, Ishikawa)
  • Knowledge of automotive ECU HW and SW key components, along with associated validation processes
  • Experience working on HV automotive components (e.g. Inverters, DCDCs, Batteries etc.)
  • Ability to integrate and manipulate data to make informed decisions
