THE OPPORTUNITY

Here at Jaguar Land Rover we are in need of a Lead Vehicle Engineer. Are you looking for a new challenge?

This role is responsible to lead the definition and execution of vehicle test and development, and planning of rigs and kits test activities onto Jaguar Land Rover vehicles for Special Vehicle Operations. There will be plenty of opportunities to work with multiple teams such as Powertrain and Chassis just to name a few.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Key responsibilities:

You will create and maintain the full vehicle test plan for specific SVO programme(s), working with key fleet owners and test teams to fully optimise the utilisation and efficiency of the plan. This will include co-ordinating the Rigs and Kits plan for each test phase, working closely with engineering, finance and programme stakeholders to optimise the plan and confirm financial approvals.

As a Lead you will conduct weekly Test and Development meetings, driving resolution of specific technical issues, and escalating critical issues to senior review forums as necessary. Head up planning for Attribute Demonstration on ADV’s for critical test phases on current and new projects.

Manage the Vehicle Off Road process for test vehicles affected by know technical issues, ensuring timely and robust communication of issues to the fleet users. Similarly support prototype build phases to build related issues are understood and resolved or accepted prior to the handover of test fleet. Support RIS planning activities as a ‘voice of the customer’ for the vehicle test fleet, negotiating the most appropriate solutions to ensure test activities can be completed robustly.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Essential:

• Experience of working in a test and development environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector
• Experience of tracking complex whole vehicle test plans through to completion in support of engineering gateways.
• Experience of managing cross functional inputs into planning documentation for Rigs and Kits.
• Working knowledge of Requirements Management (RM)
• Excellent verbal and written communications, with experience of leading report out / presenting status to senior stakeholders.
• Track record as a highly effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
• Full driving licence
• Class 3 and 1PG driver training (JLR internal process), or equivalent.
• Experience in IBM Rational DOORS
