WHAT TO EXPECT 

We are looking for a Lead Weights Future Compliance SME to focus on the future development of standards, requirements, methods and tools including research and deployment of new knowledge into Vehicle programs to ensure Jaguar Land Rover remains compliant with all regulations which are related to the delivery of vehicle weight and mass properties.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Lead the way in the development of new and existing weight standards and requirements 
  • Become the expert in current and developing weight-related regulations for all markets
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices, industry movements and future trends
  • Support other technical specialists and Subject Matter Experts through knowledge sharing and mentoring approach 
  • Produce solutions for projects, and be able to apply technical subject matter expertise to new knowledge into Foundation knowledge and vehicle programs 
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested 
  • Keep up with current and developing automotive engineering trends
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Fully defined and complete loading definitions for all markets
  • Aligned nomenclature across the engineering toolset
  • Engineering standards to control the management of weight across Jaguar Land Rover
  • Full suite of engineering requirements to cover adherence to weight regulations for all major markets
  • Processes in place to ensure consistent weight submissions into the Whole Vehicle Type Approval
  • The utilisation of production data to monitor vehicle weight against certified limits
  • Benchmarked best practices for all externally communicated weight data

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential – 

  • Ability to digest and interpret detailed regulations and advise the wider engineering community concerning the subject of mass and mass-related regulations.
  • Ability to effectively explain complex ideas, confidently presenting these to senior stakeholders 
  • Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred

Desirable – 

  • Some previous experience in authoring Engineering Standards, Requirements and Test Cases.
  • Experience in vehicle weight and mass properties and interactions with other attributes, tech centres and manufacturing plants
  • Analytical skills including the ability to conduct complex research into new technologies and manufacturing systems and tools
