The role
As a Lifting Operations - Slinger you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will provide multi-skilled, slinging and lifting operations tasking support to HMNB Clyde through the Lifting Operations department as and when directed by section line management.


Day to day, you'll provide lifting activity support to Fleet Engineering teams to enable the completion of all planned preventative maintenance to ensure their department meets the objectives of the Business.

  • Enable the identification and rectification of all system, manufacture, defects and alterations to ensure the continued availability and performance to HMNB Clyde site and estate operations.
  • Ensure that work is carried out in line with best industry practice and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales (AC17)
  • Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work and control of work processes within HMNB Clyde policies

This position involves working at height. Candidates must be able to work safely and perform tasks at varying heights.

This role is full time + 36 weekly hours and will be based on site at Clyde, Faslane. This role includes optional overtime with late shifts, night shifts and weekend shifts available.

Essential experience of the Lifting Operations - Slinger:

  • Knowledge and experience in Slinging and movement route (fleeting) operations on and around vessels
  • Experience in Fleet Engineering department activities and equipment e.g. scaffolding, vessel & jetty SOPs would be desirable
  • Manual handling
  • Working at height
  • Risk assessments & safe systems of work

Qualifications for the Lifting Operations - Slinger:

  • Level 2 Slinging and Fleeting Qualification is desirable but not essential.
