Job Title: Low Observability Engineer

Salary: Up to £55,000, depending on experience 

Location: Bristol (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 - 4 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity

The role joins the Bristol LO test team who support MBDA programmes throughout their product lifecycles. The majority of the teams work is establishing, progressing and delivering against the risk reduction and qualification strategies that will bring a product into service. We work very closely with related MBDA LO teams who undertake Radio Frequency (RF) signature and Infra-red (IR) signature assessments to ensure we're coherent across the patch.

For this role, candidates must be willing to undertake the DV (Developed Vetting) security clearance.

This role involves overseeing and undertaking work package aspects for radar cross-section (RCS) hardware readiness to support product development and qualification, whilst additionally contributing to RCS performance evidence gathering. This will involve you:

  • Placing requirements on to design authorities and overseeing their readiness and delivery
  • Leading mechanical design engineers to produce bespoke fit-for-purpose definitions for manufacture
  • Interaction with wider business areas of the company to jointly delivery against requirements
  • Managing the supply chain to ensure procurements are on time, on quality and on cost.
  • Gathering performance baselines that contribute to wider evidence sets as inputs to reporting

What we're looking for from you

  • Higher education or experience within subject fields: Physics, Electromagnetics, Electrical, mechanical or similar.
  • Project co-ordination management experience and ideally with some supply chain exposure
  • An appreciation of electrical and mechanical construction and interfacing
  • Analytical mind-set and problem solving abilities
  • The ability to communicate well with a wide range of stakeholders; from internal customers, sub-contractors / suppliers at both engineering and management levels.
  • Good communication skills; verbal, presentation and written.
  • Professional manner and adaptability when the project needs are evolving.
  • Experience of leading and tasking others, whilst cognisant of own workload; setting own goals and meeting deadlines for delivery
  • Proven ability to work to defined deadlines and within budget limits.
  • Must be willing to undertake the DV (Developed Vetting) security clearance process.
