The role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is an integral role in supporting the Royal Navy with the maintenance of T23 Frigate, ensuring that the requirements from the customer are delivered to maintain safety and operational performance of the ships. You will be working alongside a variety of stakeholders, including the MoD, ships staff and service providers. This role is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for a vessel and its future maintenance through its in-service life.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Maintain material state of designated Platform and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Review and update maintenance data and technical queries on existing MoD Maintenance Databases (UMMS/SSDD), providing feedback when appropriate.
  • Produce and optimise maintenance and support period work packages. Contributing to the identification and achievement of savings associated with maintenance activity.

Specifically, during upkeep periods the Maintenance Engineer will:

  • Co-ordinate and assist with the production and optimisation of upkeep period work specifications. Act as a focal point to assist COM Platform Managers on planning and executing Pre-Upkeep Material Assessments.
  • Provide support with the review of maintenance, technical, and configuration queries relating to Upkeep work specifications.

This role is full-time, 36-hours per week based onsite at HMNB Devonport, Plymouth.

Essential experience of the Maintenance Engineer:

  • Ideally, T23 Frigate experience with knowledge of systems engineering
  • Particular knowledge of Engineering System Management, Engineering Management, Health and Safety

Qualifications for the Maintenance Engineer:

  • Ideally, qualified to HNC in an engineering / Technical subject or have relevant expertise, experience, and specialist Naval support knowledge.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
