The Mechanical Design Engineer Role:

You will produce concept designs and engineer to a high standard of reliability products and equipment associated with communications and assist in the generation of manufacturing documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Generate and agree product concept designs and specifications with marketing and engineering.
+ Produce sound mechanical designs and documentation sufficient to enable full manufacturing documentation to be produced from agreed concepts and specifications.
+ Design plastic mouldings, castings and other mechanical piece parts to meet the product requirements in the most cost-effective way.
+ Provide production drawings for labels and cables as required.
+ Advise Design Services staff associated with projects and produce concept prototypes when necessary.
+ Liaise with other staff and attend engineering meetings related to the projects when required.
+ Liaise and where required visit with 3rd party contractors and suppliers to authorise or confirm designs and production.
+ Check engineering drawings produced by Design Services staff associated with projects.
 + Action development and production change notes as required. Managing the Design database and archive

About You:

+ Have sound knowledge of plastic moulding design and understanding of tool construction and operation
+ Experience with sheet metal and plastic fabrication techniques
+ Be able to work quickly, accurately and efficiently
+ Communicate effectively with production and product management on a daily basis
 + You’ve taken part in Mobile & Web App development with App developers and worked with engineering and sales teams or used online services to manage user feedback testing

It is essential you have the following:

+ University degree in Mechanical Engineering
+ Experience with Solidworks and other software packages is desirable
+ Experience with 3D CAD systems
+ Photo editing , silk screen printing, Adobe Acrobat experience desirable
+ Understanding of manufacturing methods and materials for small batch and high volume production
 + Experience dealing with eastern suppliers
