Mechanical Design Engineer

About the job

Responsible to the Head of Engineering, your duties will include:

• Mechanical Design using both CAD & CAE, assessing both safety and functionality of concepts, whilst aligning with the design brief;

• The ability to perform essential engineering calculations and be familiar with analysis software (FEA) in evaluating designs;

• Collaboration with project stakeholders to address design and functionality issues whilst developing effective solutions;

• Understanding of ‘Design for Manufacture’ using proven techniques and principles;

• Generating & maintenance of relevant business system data (BoMs) along with maintaining control of Engineering documents via appropriate ECN processes

 

Ideally you will be/will have:

 

• An HNC/HND qualified in relevant Mechanical Engineering discipline; or equivalent would be a distinct advantage but not essential.

• Hands on experience in mechanical product design;

• Knowledge of Injection Moulding, Castings, Forgings and Machining processes, together with an appreciation of Gear Design, is desirable but not essential;

• Experience with Siemens NX & Team Center is highly desirable;

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team;

• Several years’ experience in a similar role with an ability to deliver engineering solutions within budget and on time

In return for a 38.5-hour week, we can offer a competitive salary in the range of £55,100 - £60,000
