Location - Reading Area

Salary: £27,960 - £43,000 (dependent on experience)

Working within the Additive manufacturing Development team, we are looking to appoint Mechanical/AM Engineers, these are excellent opportunities for the right candidates, to work as part of a team alongside a diverse range of specialists and be at the forefront of AM at AWE.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with experience in some or all of the following:

  • Experience in Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing and the running of AM machines
  • Development of AM manufacturing systems
  • Process qualification
  • Post processing
  • Awareness/implementation of international standards (ISO / ASTM)
  • Maintain and promote high standards in ESH (Environmental, safety & health), security and quality
  • Contribute to the production and delivery of technical reports and presentations
  • Knowledge of/Experience in engineering design and specifications with use of design tools such as CAD as well as specialist AM slicing software
  • Attendance/presentation at national and international conferences
  • Supporting the development of others including apprentices, graduates and year-in-industry placement students
  • Awareness of AWE's role within the nuclear enterprise and how AM may be used
  • Membership of an engineering institution and/or Incorporated Engineer or equivalent. Preferred, not essential

We would like candidates to be motivated, delivery focused, capable of working within a team and engaging with various stakeholders from different disciplines, internal and external to the nuclear weapons enterprise. An appreciation of the company procedures and processes would be beneficial but not essential.

These are excellent and exciting opportunities to join a multi-disciplinary team with a range of experiences. These roles will provide the successful candidates with a wider appreciation of the UK's nuclear weapon enterprise, responsibility in delivering CASD and cross enterprise engagement at all levels.

To be considered for these roles, you would ideally have an HNC/HND or degree qualification in an engineering discipline or proven experience working in a similar environment and possess strong communication skills.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the roles and be willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas as required.
