Job Description:

We are recruiting an experienced qualified Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical) to work within a large Manufacturing business. We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter with a dynamic approach to their role and able to work as part of an established team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for preventative maintenance on machines and equipment as well as responding to emergency machine break downs throughout the plant; involvement with new design, installation and movements of existing machines; overhaul and repair of machines and equipment. Ensuring machines and equipment on site are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support all areas of the site including plant, machines, equipment and services to ensure continuous operation
  • Repair and servicing of mechanical systems including retrofit and upgrade
  • Servicing technologies to ensure safe operation and fitness for purpose
  • Rebuilding equipment, machines, and systems as part of continuous development
  • Knowledge of both Hydraulic & Pneumatic control systems
  • Breakdown management and recovery
  • Technology and equipment relocation. installation and commissioning
  • Working collaboratively with other teams on projects related to the job function
  • Assist with mechanical design and fabrication of plant machinery and test equipment
  • Carry out related duties as required by department supervision.
  • Working to very fine tolerances

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Fully indentured apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
  • Previous experience with manufacturing technologies, machines (including CNC processes) chemical plants, site and facilities management
  • Able to work alone and as part of a team
  • Understanding and interact with basic computer driven software packages and re-porting systems
  • Positive attitude, team player and good communication skills.
  • Previous experience of working in a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Communicates clearly, concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing, sharing information with confidence, enthusiasm and with an impact that promotes understanding.
