MBDA Missile Systems - Deliver for a more secure tomorrow

Mechanical Architects can be involved in all aspects of missile development, from the early concept studies to series production and in-service support.

Based within the Portfolio Management technical team, you will be involved with and influence the design processes for the entirety of the Complex Weapons Portfolio. This approach takes advantage of Commonality, Modularity and Reuse in design to deliver groundbreaking capability to our customer, with the best cost and lead time.

You will gain exposure to the whole of MBDA and influence engineering strategy for the future. The opportunity:

  • Management of engineering issues which emerge to pose a risk, requiring a flexible and creative approach
  • Support the Chief Design Engineer to develop, maintain and publish portfolio risk register
  • Translation of the Obsolescence Management Strategy into engineering plans to support projects, solving one of the biggest challenges in modern engineering
  • Manage delivery risk awareness - you will establish links with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to provide support where required

Who and what we are looking for from you?

  • A flexible mindset, be able to tackle problems and develop genuinely innovative solutions for design challenges
  • Ability to understand complex technical problems, often with a high degree of uncertainty
  • Effectively manage your priorities when presented with issues from multiple projects
  • Chartered, or have the desire to become chartered
  • Possess strong communication skills and enjoy working with a large team from different engineering disciplines
  • You are able to concisely summarise multi-faceted problems and influence, lead and motivate teams positively
  • Good knowledge and experience of mechanical & electro-mechanical design

The Portfolio team pioneers MBDA's engineering strategy. We operate in a completely unique position by sitting across all projects and equipment teams. The Portfolio Delivery Team reports directly to the Chief Design Engineer who will connect you to wide range of stakeholders inside and outside MBDA.
