A Mobile Software Engineer in Test with a passion for quality, and proven experience of automated software testing, is required for a variety of digital projects being delivered for Jaguar Land Rover in Manchester. You will form part of a collaborative, iterative and agile process in a multi-disciplined team helping deliver best in class digital solutions. This role provides a unique opportunity to help support and grow a new software development capability within Jaguar Land Rover.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Principal Software Test Engineer and working closely with other multi-disciplined engineers, you will be a valued member of the Global Digital Development Centre team, consistently delivering to challenging business objectives, with a focus on testability, robustness, security and performance for exciting new projects. You will work on real projects alongside experienced engineers and will be expected to advocate testing within a team as well as contributing to process improvements across testing.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

A Mobile Software Engineer in Test should have experience in automated software testing in an agile and DevOps culture, with deep knowledge of the STLC and a real passion for quality. Previous involvement in all stages of the software delivery lifecycle, a passion for advocating test across a multi-disciplined team and excellent verbal and written communication skills are ideal for success within this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

· Experience of automation testing native mobile applications in multi-disciplinary teams

· Experience in implementing mobile test strategies for faster feedback loops and to improve testing outcomes

· Strong programming skills and experience with an OO language such as Python or JavaScript

· Experience with Appium and cross device testing on iOS and Android platforms

· Experience of testing APIs and relational database technologies such as MySQL or similar

· Experience of implementing and using cloud based device farms

· Experienced advocate for practices such as Test-Driven Development and Pair Programming

· Experience with source code management and version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab)

· Experience with modern CI/CD tools and techniques

Desirable:

· Experience in BDD and creating tests using Gherkin syntax

· Experience working with observability and monitoring tools such as Firebase or similar

· Experience of non-functional testing in a mobile environment
