Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 negotiable depending on experience

Additional: Call out attracts additional payment, circa £3K upwards annually

 

The Company

Established for over 60 years and with 5 retail units throughout Yorkshire and North Derbyshire, they offer a range of mobility and care products to help many people to solve their daily living, mobility, access and care challenges. The company specialises in sales, installations, maintenance, service and repairs of mobility/access equipment.

 

Based within and in support of the Mobility Installation & Service Team, the role is intended to have a primary focus such as stairlifts, patient hoists or vertical lifts install/service/repair 

 

The role is mainly mobile / field-based working in the homes of private clients, care establishments, hospitals etc. executing installations and repairs of access products leading with stairlifts, vertical lifts, patient hoists, etc

 

Service / repair of other mobility products such as scooters, wheelchairs, rise/recline chairs etc and developing knowledge across the whole range will also be included within the role. 

 

 

Main role and responsibilities

 

  • The primary function of the role is the installation of mobility equipment focused on stairlifts, patient hoists or vertical lifts etc. 
  • Periodic testing / inspection / servicing of such products relevant to this requirement, with accurate completion of supporting documentation ensuring compliance with relevant legislation e.g., LOLER
  • Ensuring that all associated paperwork is completed comprehensively and accurately to ensure traceability and product repair history
  • Working to the relevant formal standards and in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Carry out service, maintenance and repairs on installed products and also where required on a variety of other general mobility equipment which may include scooters, wheelchairs, rise/recline chairs etc
  • Diagnosis and identification of faults, implementation of appropriate remedial action
  • Carrying out PAT on products where relevant
  • Carrying out services and safety examinations based on an established series of standards / manufacturer requirements
  • Sourcing of relevant part numbers and parts for repairs / customer quote creation
  • To provide accurate quotations / estimates etc for work as required
  • Upkeep of van stock as required
  • Where required provide support for workshop-based repairs to ensure completion of more complex repairs in a timely and efficient manner
  • Liaison with Parts, Service Admin, Sales working collaboratively with colleagues at all times
  • Response to and achievement of individual / departmental targets, where applicable
  • Maximise additional business opportunities when these arise devloping product knowledge across the range supplied by the company and using that knowledge to support the above processes and promote further business
  • To participate in emergency standby / on-call rota (following suitable training and familiarisation) – additional details available on request

  • To ensure duties and responsibilities are carried out in a safe manner and safe working practices are adopted, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974
  • To undertake training and development relevant to the post and in line with the priorities of the company as required
  • The post holder will be expected to work in a flexible manner, including providing cover for absent colleagues and undertaking any reasonable duties commensurate within the range the post, or indeed lesser duties as directed and whether detailed within this profile or not, but as required by the company
  • Participation in out of hours emergency standby / callout rota will be required following the initial training and probation period, although callouts do not occur frequently.  

 

 

Candidate Requirements

 

If you have previous experience of mobility / access equipment installation such as ceiling track patient lifting hoists, stairlifts, vertical lifts, etc. this would be helpful as focus on this will be encouraged within the team with an emphasis to your lead product.

 

Our preference is that you already have experience working within the mobility sector on ANY of the equipment we have outlined above although applications from anyone with transferable core skills and knowledge will also be considered.

 

Regardless of previous experience, training for product, processes and procedures will be provided via a combination of manufacturer, on-the-job / one to one support, and other formal and informal routes.

 

A company vehicle is allocated to you for travel to / from work and general use when on standby / callout and we offer a competitive salary.
