NPI and Production Engineer

Location: Hook, Hampshire

Up to £42,000 basic salary

A leading electronics manufacturer are looking for a NPI and Production Engineer to join their team based in Hook, Hampshire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Designs, develops and maintains the mechanical portion of products, meeting product and project requirements, in close collaboration with the other disciplines and functions - Fabricate or assemble mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic components or assemblies.
  • Assists in identifying product requirements and risks and in defining risk control plans.
  • Develops and maintains mechanical layouts which may include 3D models and drawings using the CAD system, develops and maintains the bill of materials.
  • Designs and builds prototypes and associated fabrication and test tooling.
  • Participates in technical reviews of requirements, risks, designs, product files and other artifacts - Designing assembly and test tooling/fixtures, procurement coordination and validation of designs.
  • Providing technical support to the production floor
  • Supporting all aspects of pre-production and post-launch production through to project close out - Select electromechanical equipment, materials, components, or systems to meet functional and quality specifications.
  • Customer focussed Engineer looking after all engineering activities to introduce, update and maintain products.
  • Finding the best suitable materials & alternatives to be used for product assembly.
  • Facilitating Process, Quality, and Cycle Time/UPH improvement, involving representatives from other departments to promote teamwork and awareness.
  • Assembly monitoring to minimise downtime in order to successfully meet OTIF/ turnaround.

Experience/Skills required:

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Industry relevant certifications are desirable e.g. IPC
  • Mechanical system design
  • CAD, drafting standards, tolerancing.
  • Electro-mechanical design & systems / electro-pneumatic design and systems
  • Material sciences, material selection
  • Structural analytical and finite element analysis
  • Hydraulics computations
  • Manufacturing technologies
  • Design for X methodologies (manufacturability, maintainability, reliability, compliance, etc.)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of technology of materials used in electromechanical and electropneumatic assemblies.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work effectively to deadlines.
  • Proactive and flexible approach
