The role
As a Nuclear Facilities Authorisation Group Chairperson, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This opportunity plays a pivotal role during an exciting time of major expenditure and interesting and novel upgrade projects.

Day-to-day, you'll lead the review of documentation in support of activities within the Submarine Nuclear Facilities at Devonport. You will also undertake the safe release of work following authorisation. Reporting to the Plant Manager in the Nuclear Operations Directorate and will be interacting with the Design Authority, Operations, Maintenance and Project Managers

  • Chair a multi-disciplined group to review work activities on the facilities.
  • Authorise the work activity documents
  • Safely release the work
  • Ensure compliance with the safety case
  • Upkeep the appropriate operational records

This role is full time 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Nuclear Facilities Authorisation Group Chairperson

  • Knowledge of nuclear facilities and submarine maintenance
  • Experience of working within the constraints of a safety case and license or authorised conditions
  • Equivalent training and experience can be considered such as a previously qualified Royal Navy Category A watch keeper or suitable experience from other nuclear installations.

Qualifications for the Nuclear Facilities Authorisation Group Chairperson

  • Relevant Engineering Degree or significant experience.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
