The Nuclear Repair Coppersmith / Mechanical Plumber is based within our Clyde business area. Babcock provides services including fleet time engineering, facilities management, waterfront services, logistics and transport within an agreed operating budget, firmly focused on continuous and sustainable improvement in submarine & facility support
The role of Nuclear Repair Coppersmith / Mechanical Plumber
Areas of responsibility will include:
* You will play an integral role ensuring the serviceability of submarines and surface ships through detailed maintenance, repairs and refit periods.
* All planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and nuclear implicated work,
* Identify/rectify all defects and alterations and ensure that work is carried out in line with current legislation and site processes
* Make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
Please note:
* Due to the nature of this role you will be able to withstand harsh environments.
* The role holder must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and be capable of thinking on your feet in order to problem solve and work within a team.
* Hours of work will be Monday to Thursday - 8.05am to 4.45pm and Friday 8.05am to 12.05pm
* You must be eligible to gain and maintain UK SC security clearance for this role
Essential experience
* Experience in Pipe Bending, Brazing, mechanical APT, Pipe Material Awareness, and pipework Jointing Method/Procedures.
* Experience of Maintenance Procedures, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work with excellent team working and interpersonal skills
* The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, as you will be engaging with people of varied levels from both Navy and Civilian personnel.
Qualifications
* You will hold a recognised Coppersmith Apprenticeship to N/SVQ Level 3 or HNC and above Coppersmith discipline and industry experience.
