MBDA Missile Systems - Together. For the future of defence.

Salary: up to £58K dependent on experience + bonus + benefits

Hybrid working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working.

Location: Bristol or Stevenage offices.

The opportunity:

Following the recent announcement of MBDA investment in the LAND PRECISION FIRES FAMILY, a number of key roles have been identified to drive forward the technical delivery of these programmes. MBDA are looking for individuals who are able to contribute to immediate delivery of solutions for Domestic and Export customers, operating in the Land and Maritime Domains, based on our Brimstone and future Precision Effect Weapons.

As the Platform Integration Lead, your primary objective is to lead the engineering team in defining the key interfaces for UK and Export Platform providers of the MBDA defined Weapon System, to ensure successful exchange of engineering data and development of a co-dependent project plan. You will bring experience of Land or Naval Platform engineering to demonstrate your understanding of the challenging environmental conditions our systems will be exposed to, as well being able to explain these in the context of the host platform. You will also be setting the framework for project progress by establishing an effective Platform Integration Working Group to maintain key relationships throughout the development, qualification and delivery programmes.

What we're looking for from you:

Someone who can demonstrate an ability to:

  • Develop platform specific requirements and interface control document in line with the Project Chief Design Engineer and Chief Systems Engineer's strategy
  • Provide guidance to the Missile and other Subsystem development teams on the integration strategy for the Weapon System including the opportunity for evidence re-use and management of technical risk
  • Establish effecting Platform Integration Working Groups for each project using a common operating framework
  • Ensure platform integration and installation tasks are resourced and managed appropriately; including team development and maintaining the health, welfare and safety of MBDA personnel at all times
  • Manage the installation activities of the MBDA Weapon System onto the target platform, in conjunction with the platform design authority
  • Manage the contractual engagement with the platform DA and any associated facilities required
  • Ensure project deliverables are available in a timely manner to conduct platform integration, especially if these are being provided by a different engineering team in the Chief Design Engineer's organisation
  • Maintain messaging around system boundaries and MBDA capability to determine a complete product integration strategy and identify third parties as required to support this strategy.
  • Track, manage and register physical equipment, as delivered to installation and integration facilities and in compliance with export control requirements and restrictions

What to expect:

This role offers the right candidate an opportunity to operate in a highly technical and challenging atmosphere at the forefront of future weapon system development. By working with our national and international partners for integration of Surface Launch Brimstone onto multiple land and maritime platforms, you will be gaining valuable experience through your demonstrable Engineering Leadership qualities that can lead to career advancement and increased responsibility of product ownership within MBDA UK and the MBDA Group.

The landscape of defence engineering has changed and there is an expectation by our Customers to have Equipment in-service quicker. Surface Launch Brimstone is no exception and you will have full exposure to fast pace delivery programmes that will influence the next generation of MBDA Weapon Systems.

You will achieve this through engagement with a broad range of partners across MBDA and external, in order to create and realise the technical delivery of the Weapon System capability. Reaching technical compromise, whilst still achieving value and quality.

This role is a rare opportunity to gain parallel experience in all phases of product lifecycle management; with an opportunity to continue through to in-service. You will also be working within an international context, expanding your engineering experience and network; including the exploration of offset capability in our partner nations

What to expect:

We offer opportunities for career progression, paid overtime (subject to level), bonus scheme, comprehensive pension package, annual salary review, collaborative working environment and excellent on-site facilities.

We recognise that everyone is unique, and we encourage you to speak to us should you require any advice, support or adjustments throughout our recruitment process. We also welcome applicants who are looking for flexible working arrangements.
