Dynamic (hybrid) working: We trust our people to agree, within their teams, where and when they can be most effective. Our Dynamic Working policy allows individuals flexibility around the hours they work and where they work. Typically for this role you will work 2-3 days per week on-site.

The opportunity:

A data practitioner is required for challenging role in the MBDA's Portfolio team. In this role you will use your data knowledge, expertise and best practice to support Digital Transformation activities within the Portfolio.

The role presents an excellent opportunity to broaden your data-related skillset, as well as providing opportunities to work alongside the wider Portfolio team, with stakeholders from across the UK business, and with the UK Customer community.

What we're looking for from you:

Governance of the current MOD/MBDA Portfolio arrangement relies heavily on the use Excel and PowerPoint to share information between MBDA and the UK MOD customer.  Information shared in this way is inherently static, remains valid for a limited time only, and may lack consistency. To address these issues the UK Portfolio is transitioning to the use of Management Information dashboards created using Power BI, which are published into a shared area accessible by both MBDA and MOD.

To support this transition a skilled data practitioner is required to support the data life cycle within the Portfolio i.e. the collecting, transforming, analysing, communicating, and productising of Portfolio data with the end goal of guiding decision making in the joint management meetings between MBDA and MOD.

  • Good subject matter knowledge/expertise in data-related fields e.g. Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Data Scientist;
  • Good practical experience/awareness of some of the following:
    • Power BI (preferable);
    • Excel (including Power Queries, VBA, etc.);
    • SQL, Python, or R (not essential but something we could make use of);
    • Low Code Tools e.g. Simulink, Alteryx, KNIME, Dataiku (awareness).
  • Clear communication/presentation skills;
  • Motivated and pro-active, and be capable of working on your own initiative with a minimum of supervision, as well as within a larger team or stakeholder group;
  • An understanding of the ethics of gathering and working with data.

We are committed to growing and supporting diversity in our workforce and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to reach their potential. MBDA is proud of our employee-led networks, examples include: Gender Equality, Pride, Menopause Matters, Parents and Carers, Armed Forces, Ethnic Diversity, Neurodiversity and more…

We recognise that everyone is unique, and we encourage you to speak to us should you require any advice, support or adjustments throughout our recruitment process. We also welcome applicants who are looking for flexible working arrangements.

Follow us on LinkedIn (MBDA), Twitter (@MBDAcareers), Instagram (lifeatMBDA_UK) and Glassdoor or visit our MBDA Careers website for more information.

Please Note: MBDA UK Limited requires all employees to achieve the required medical and national security clearance for their role. Further restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may also apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

Due to the nature of our business, this particular vacancy requires the applicant as a minimum to be a British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship and capable of achieving the clearance levels mentioned above.
