This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy Power Electronics Design Team supporting the design of the most cutting edge and exciting projects in the Defence industry.

Salary: Circa £35,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Security Checks (SC), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our busy Power Electronics Team supporting the design of some of the most cutting edge and exciting projects in the Defence industry.

Our team is looking for a Power Electronics Laboratory Technician to provide day to day support to the Power Electronics Designers across a variety of tasks, including testing (including generation of subsequent test reports), component level assembly and rework, mainly on development or prototype boards.

You'll need demonstrable experience of analogue and digital circuits and components covering a wide frequency range up to high GHz, as well as proven practical ability for fault finding, rework, soldering and use of general laboratory equipment.

Most importantly you will be a good team player and willing to play your part in a high performing and welcoming team.

Training and guidance will be provided for the right candidate.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Familiar with analogue and digital circuits and components across a wide range of frequencies and power levels.
  • Familiar with working safely and effectively in a development lab environment.
  • Soldering and rework at SMT component level, ideally qualified to IPC 610 but training can be provided, fault finding and CCA component level assembly
  • Soldering/Crimping assembly and rework of prototype cable harnesses – IPC 620 qualified is a nice to have, but not essential, training can be provided
  • Ability to perform automated testing - LabView, VEE
  • Self-starter - well organised, motivated and shows initiative.
