Role 

This technical role within the base engines team will be supporting identification and resolution of field warranty issues. As a Powertrain Technical support Engineer you will capture issues identified with our products and define new areas of investigation for quality improvement as well as develop and validate fixes for field issues. The successful candidate will be instrumental in sharing this learning with a larger national and international team giving yourself great progression opportunities and exposure across Jaguar Land Rover. 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

  • Work with customer service teams and JLR repair dealerships around the world to resolve technical powertrain customer issues with our products. 
  • Identify the appropriate lowest level of repair for a customer vehicle. 
  • Advance and develop the Technical Assistance process to record and track emerging issues.  
  • Collect and analyse field return parts to verify concern and create standardised problem definition to allow engineering teams to resolve. 
  • Support critical concerns team with detailed analysis and review of significant failures 
  • Develop and validate fixes for field issues in conjunction with quality team. 
  • Monitor field issues for breaches of existing known fixes. 
  • Feedback to global teams to improve diagnostic processes and support warranty recovery actions. Collaborate with global field engineering teams to collect intelligence, identify and share best practices. 
  • Support engine teardown reviews and fresh eyes events to ensure ongoing quality improvement. 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED 

Essential 

  • Strong fundamental understanding of engine design and function  
  • Hands-on experience with base engine repair, development or testing 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills 
  • Desire to continuously learn and improve our products 

Desirable 

  • Relevant Degree or equivalent experience 
  • Experience in automotive dealership or other OEM 
  • Foundation understanding in engine calibration or software or electrical machine control.
