Job title: Principal Engineer - Electrical Engineering (Control & Instrumentation)

What you'll be doing:

  • Undertaking the responsibility of the functional design of Complex Integrated Process Control Systems and with this, provide specialist advice and producing evidence in support of legislative, safety and technical requirements
  • Liaise with internal and external customers as part of the technical team
  • Articulate and present technical arguments concisely and logically
  • Execute, evaluate, deliver and manage complex engineering and/or cross functional tasks or programmes of work whilst recognising stakeholder and customer requirements
  • Identify as well as implement opportunities for both personal and team development to ensure that professional capability of the business and individual are maintained as well as improved
  • Lead and develop a small team of Control and Instrumentation engineers

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf) based equipment used in Industry Control Systems in the defence industry or similar
  • A Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) Degree or equivalent qualification and strong experience within an engineering background
  • Demonstrable experience of applying engineering lifecycle phases and technical specialities
  • Significant experience producing and communicating design documentation and artefacts relating to Control Systems
  • Experience developing solutions to meet complex technical requirements in a highly regulated industry/environment
  • Obtained or be working towards obtaining a relevant Professional Registration (CEng)

The Platform Management Systems Team

This role will give you a fantastic opportunity to work on one of the most complex engineering programmes ever undertaken in the country, which will deliver a product of national importance. You could join our team and be a part in the design of crucial systems for the Dreadnought class of submarines, which will replace the Vanguard Class, currently in service with the Royal Navy.
