Job Title: Principal Engineer - Product Configuration & Change

Location: Glasgow, Broad Oak, or Bristol. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £60,100 depending on skills and experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading in the technical delivery of the Canadian River Class Destroyer Configuration Management Capability
  • Supporting the effective implementation of Configuration Management plans and policies within River Class Destroyer program
  • Ensuring the River Class Destroyer delivers its obligations under the EIA-649 by supporting baseline establishment of Functional, Allocated, and Product Baseline
  • Developing the Configuration baselines in alignment with the design review strategy and sharing these baselines with the wider project
  • Implementing and developing appropriate tools, processes, and practices as in the Product Configuration Management plan
  • Supporting, preparing, and maintaining the River Class Destroyer Product Configuration with a focus on the Product Configuration Management Plan
  • Guiding the Senior Engineers and providing technical guidance where required

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Extensive product knowledge, across different disciplines including an understanding of the key interfaces between systems & sub systems
  • Good knowledge, and ideally a user, of product change and configuration management functions (Planning, Identification, Change Control, Status Accounting, Verification & Audit)
  • Proficient in using Product Data Management (PDM) / Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems i.e. TeamCentre, or Windchill
  • Experience of coaching and guiding team members

Desirable:

  • Integrated bill of materials (iBoM) and change management in Windchill knowledge

Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline.

Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution.

The Product Configuration & Change team:

This is an exciting opportunity for you to play a critical part within the Canadian River Class Destroyer Programme, in this cross functional role you will work alongside a range of different internal functions and external stakeholders, and you will report directly into the Engineering Manager within Product Configuration & Change. You will also have the opportunity to share you knowledge and skills with other members of the team, as you help guide and support them. This role may give you the chance to travel internationally as you work alongside our customer, allowing you to gain further exposure and to network. We will support you in your professional career development through further learning and offer support to achieving Chartership status.
