Babcock International and Submarine Support Engineering

The Principal Engineer role is based within our Submarine Support Engineering (SSE)

The SSE mission is to deliver submarine programme and engineering excellence through enterprise collaboration, innovation and analytics. Within SSE, the Constructive Group support the Royal Navy Submarine Fleet through the Structures, Naval Architecture, Seamanship and Outfitting and Design Change disciplines.


The role

The difference our new Principal Engineer will make

As a Principal Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will take on a key role in the Submarine Strategic Weapons Enterprise, representing CSSE programmes and activity review. 

Day to day, your role will include stakeholder management and engagement, data analysis and management of risk. This is a new and exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Engineering Lead to assume a key role in Babcock's contribution to the Submarine Strategic Weapons (SW) Enterprise.

Essential experience

  • Minimum Level 6 qualification in an engineering / science discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • You’ll need to have worked with safety-critical systems, and have change control/change management experience within projects and strategic systems knowledge for submarines.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it)
  • Excellent communication skills 

You will need to satisfy security requirements. You must be a sole UK National and are required to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
