The Role

We currently have the opportunity to recruit an Automation Engineer based within the  Process Control & Automation (PC&A) department at our site in Llanwern

The PC&A department provides Process Control and Automation services to the Strip UK Hub, The position reports directly to the Principle Engineer – PC&A.  It primarily exists to ensure that plant operations continue to run effectively via preventative maintenance, process improvements and development of new systems including automation system upgrades and efficient development and maintenance of Automation Control Systems.

Within the role, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensure the Safety, Health & Welfare of staff and care for the environment.
  • Carry out Automation systems improvements to reduce downtime/improve product quality.
  • Driving continuous improvement through development of new Automation systems and replacement of  obsolete systems
  • Ensure that all systems, procedures and documentation are kept up to date.
  • Assisting works areas in  investigations, including failure identification and root cause investigations. Preparing  reports, to support both the resolution of problems and engineering improvements.
  • Sharing of knowledge amongst team members to ensure skill levels are raised

The Candidate

Applicants will preferably be educated to a minimum of HNC level (or equivalent) in an  electrical/control discipline

A sound knowledge of process control and experience of developing and supporting SCADA systems, Historians, Data loggers, PLC systems (eg Siemens, Rockwell  GE, ABB).

A  knowledge of industrial networks would  also be a benefit.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and problem solving experience is essential
