The Opportunity
The Automotive industry has entered into a new and exciting era of electric vehicle engineering. As a result, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is broadening its focus to include electrification technology, which is the future of passenger vehicle propulsion.

The JLR Battery Assembly Centre will be the company’s first foray into what is the largest transformational change in the 120 year history of automobile manufacturing. As a BAC team member, you will be playing a fundamental part in this historic change, as we will supply for the first time, both electric and hybrid electric battery packs for JLR vehicle plants.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
The Process Leader will act as a key leader within the Operations team, running a team of Team Leaders and Associates within the Battery Assembly Centre. The Process Leader will not only manage the team, but will also be responsible for fostering team work and continuous improvement, acting as a role model for the Powertrain values, and leading the SQDCPE agenda for the area. Collaborating with, and leading direction for the support Functions

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for and reporting shift performance to senior management on daily/ weekly/ monthly basis.
• Coach and Lead shift team Leaders in achieving all SQDCPE objectives.
• Coach and Lead team Leaders to ensure that they and the facility are production ready to meet all Launch Milestones and meet agreed targets.
• Supervision of skilled and semi-skilled associates, including Team Leaders, Production Operators to ensure achievement of quality and production objectives.
• Driving cost, budget control and quality improvements with a keen customer focus.
• Ensuring continuous improvement within the area of responsibility and supporting the associates in continuous improvement events and activities.
• Work with Maintenance Team to Prioritize Maintenance activities on a shift by shift basis.
• Drive Constraint management through the value stream and ensure bottlenecks are identified to remove inefficiencies in the process.
• Ensuring that the Area operates to the Integrated Production System (IPS) principles and standards, using the latest Quality Operating System (QOS) techniques.
• Be responsible and adhere to the Safety Operating Systems (SOS) during all stages of Launch /ROC/ steady state production.
• Support employee attendance initiatives and manage absence control activities such as counselling, capability and disciplinary procedures.
• Implement Company Policy on pay and benefits including administration tasks

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Understanding and good knowledge of safety processes and safe systems of work.
• A high level of motivation and initiative.
• Computer literacy is essential.
• Experience of Manpower planning is advantageous.
• Ability to interrogate and interpret data, required for problem solving.
• A flexible approach to cope with frequent change and to ensure efficient running of the operation.
• Ability to use planning and timing tools to deliver on-going projects.
• Good understanding of process flow
• Evidence of leadership ability and interpersonal skills.
• Proven Experience in leading and coordinating large groups of people in high volume or high complex processes
• Knowledge of Powertrain manufacture would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of production tools and metrics.
•    Understanding of IPS/ CI/ Quality Tools and Techniques/ CCAR process/ PDCA/ Finance and Budget control would be an advantage.  

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
•    English (fluency in reading, writing and speaking)

 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, oral, written, and team skills
• MS Office suite (Word, Excel and Power Point)
