WHAT TO EXPECT

The role of the Product Designer is highly creative, with a passion for details and precision execution. Developing new designs and innovative solution components within the interiors of our future vehicles - working to meet business objectives set by both the Business and the Design Director and demonstrate an understanding of sustainable modern luxury.

The Product Designer will regularly interface with Design Project Managers, Studio Engineers, Clay and CAS modellers, Studio Engineers and Team Leaders - as well as teams outside of design in order to effectively aid the delivery of our future products.

The role requires a clear ability to visually and verbally communicate ideas and solutions. This requires the highest of level of quality when it comes to illustration, visual evaluation and aesthetic judgement of digital and clay surfaces and an eye for fine detail. You will also need to have  an active interest of automotive/non–automotive industry trends in technology and design is essential in supporting the development of ideas for the design of our interior components.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

In order to be considered for this position you need to demonstrate illustration and visual evaluation abilities to visually and verbally communicate ideas, solutions and strong understanding of aesthetic judgement of surface, surface juxtaposition and appearance, broad knowledge of engineering, production techniques and processes, and strong market / business acumen. As a Product Designer, you will be expected to create and illustrate new ideas whilst considering previous ways of thinking in problem solving.

The delivery of assigned specific interior projects with the collaboration of key stakeholders is a key responsibility in this position. You should also expect to be able to liaise cross-functionally to ensure two-way communication on project feasibility & 3D development, assist in the development of the virtual and physical design properties of their specific project, to the highest level of maturity and refinement as well as the ability to undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.

Knowledge, Abilities and Experience:

Essential:

• Previous experience of the generation of designs for within Automotive or Product Design, including experience of visualising and communicating design solutions in 2D and 3D.
• Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Essential IT skill – high level of Photoshop ability.

Desirable:

• IT abilities, particularly with Design related systems, e.g. ALIAS / VRED / Power-Point
• Strong understanding of surfacing requirements
• Experience from non – automotive Product background
• Knowledge & interest for all fields of consumer design
