AWE are recruiting for Project Engineers to directly support our Engineering Management Team by maintaining the Design Intent and Design Information Configuration from facility design inception through to project handover to the operational phase. Project Engineer - Facility Design

Location: Reading / Basingstoke area

Salary: £33,850 - £45,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

As a key member of the Engineering Team, the Project Engineer will have the opportunity to work on multiple projects with a range of stakeholders to support our critical mission in keeping the Nation safe.

This will include supporting the Engineering Manager's to provide facility designs, reviewing engineering requirements and preparing draft specifications and briefs. Whilst experience of working in a regulated environment (nuclear and/or explosives) is preferred, it is not essential.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Engineering Manager in assessing the suitability of the facility design for the next phase of the lifecycle (e.g. tender; construction; commissioning; handover)

  • Supporting the Engineering Manager in their delivery of their Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Supporting oversight of the facility design as it develops via facilitating routine reviews

  • Supporting the Engineering Manager in managing the Design Intent and Design Information Configuration from inception through to project handover

  • Providing functional support in identifying and implementing change, development and improvement

  • Setting up meetings and reviews and managing stakeholders

  • Gathering data and technical information to support the project

  • Acting as first point of contact for technical queries

  • Maintaining technical query and change registers

  • Producing draft project governance documents; plans certificates etc.

Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • HNC/HND with suitable additional experience

  • Ability to delivery of cross-discipline design packages in a multi-discipline environment

  • Capable of maintaining design information configuration control for the life of a project

  • Some experience of delivering projects using structured methodologies

  • Capable of supporting the role of Principal Designer under CDM Regulations

  • Experience developing and delivering design solutions

All candidates must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
