About the job

We are currently dealing with a major Engineering consultancy who are looking to recruit a Senior or  Project Manager based in York working on major rail projects like TRU and HS2 on a contract basis. As the Senior or Rail Project Manager your will Plan the project(s) in sufficient detail to ensure integration of all activities, dependencies, and understanding of critical paths and key milestones.  You will ensure a comprehensive budget is prepared, reflecting the plan and all resource needs which includes working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels within the organisation to define and achieve mutual understanding of the scope.  You will direct and motivate the project team(s) to achieve the desired results, often using matrix management, and ensure effective communication is maintained throughout the project liaising with different core rail disciplines.

As mentioned, this will be working as Project Manager within a Design Consultancy environment, sou could suit a Design Manager or Project Manager in a similar role but could also suitable candidates from client or contractor organizations as well. This role is based in North Yorkshire, specifically York, so could be commutable in the surrounding areas like Leeds, Doncaster and Northeast. When the office reopens flexible working approach will be adopted with a split week between home and office.


Contract rate is dependent on whether fall into the Senior Project Manager or Rail Project Manager.


Job Requirements

Significant experience within the Rail industry ideally and proven experience of delivering projects to time, cost and quality.
Membership of The Association for Project Management and/or membership of a relevant professional institution and/or relevant demonstrable experience.
Project Management within a Design/or consultancy environment
Sound Commercial and Contractual understanding of commonly used Construction Industry Contracts.
Robust stakeholder management skills and a natural ability to expand and develop client relationships
Experience of different project management approaches e.g. agile and waterfall.
