Vent Engineering, a natural & smoke ventilation specialist, are currently looking for a Project Planner to join our busy projects team.

We've been trading since 1988 and are one of the leading specialists in our field of natural & smoke ventilation supplying products in the UK to both individuals and trade customers alike.

The Role:

The Project Planner will be responsible for providing product and labour planning support to the Project Managers.

You will help in the management of each contract and develop and manage schedules for each project and ensure the company is not at risk in missing any deadlines for supply and installation.

You will need to ensure you are able, and in control, of all the tasks requested of you. Multitasking extremely effectively is a factor of the role, with an exceptional understanding of excel formulas, coupled with a problem-solving mindset.

You must feel comfortable taking ownership of the project plan and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail throughout your work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage, generate and maintain accurate product delivery schedules to site for multiple portfolio projects; both small and large that are at differing active stages (purchase order / installation / commissioning cycle)
  • To integrate and communicate effectively with the Projects Managers
  • Develop the instrumentation schedule across the project through interactive planning sessions
  • Liaise with the purchasing department to ensure that the correct materials are available for each job at the required time
  • Application of technical and construction knowledge to produce integrated programs
  • Establish accurate and up-to-date programme metrics to define the status of projects across the portfolio
  • Coordinate the internal and external supply chain, in conjunction with the purchasing department, to achieve delivery targets and milestones
  • Monitor customer credit lines and raise warnings to the Commercial Director
  • Advise Project Managers of available alternative stock
  • Collect and maintain schedule data within the project library
  • Assist, where required, in recovery situations of stock required for projects
  • Profit Margin / Budget management - produce weekly budget report for the Commercial Director

About you

Required:

  • Experience in a Planning role
  • Advanced experience of MS Excel
  • Technical and Construction knowledge
  • Understanding and interpreting Float Erosion and critical activities
  • Instrumentation planning and knowledge of construction methods and processes

Desired:

  • Qualifications in Electrical / M&E Engineering, project or construction management, or equivalent vocational training and experience
  • Member of an appropriate professional body (ACostE, APM etc.)
  • Understand Planning and Construction processes
  • Prince 2 or a PMP qualification
