What You’ll Do

The role will be supporting Electronic Drive Unit Prototype Production and involves coordinating and responsibility for Build Engineering Operations and associated personnel.  This role will involve technical validation and specification of parts, process, tooling and machinery used on the line whilst ensuring all equipment and the supporting facility are calibrated and maintained.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • A safety first, always, mindset.
  • Control of Operation in line with all certification, accreditation and ISO compliance requirements.
  • Performing and preparing for audits such as SBI, SHARP, ISO and occupational hygiene to ensure compliance with business and legal requirements.
  • Generation, coordinate, management and delivery of Operational Processes for the EDU prototype Build line ensuring deliverables meet strategic objectives of the area. 
  • Build Engineering – Validation of parts and processes. PFMEA, FMEA, FMA.
  • Fault finding investigating causes and resolution of faults online. Prevent recurrence and containment.
  • Maintenance of Risk analysis and mitigation trackers.
  • CAD validation.
  • Tooling and equipment specification and procurement.
  • Calibration and control of facility and all tooling.
  • Post build and test Data Analysis of data generated by the line from tooling and machinery.
  • Utilisation of cycle plan and Programme build plans to Identify how both store and production are impacted by each build or known issues and ensure that these areas are fully aware of upcoming workload. Communicate any changes to in-flight programmes to all stake holders.
  • Create dedicated KPI's to track delivery quality issues, CCAR's in build.  Issue KPI's weekly to LL6 & LL5. Use KPI's to track trends and drive efficiency recovery plans.
  • Management, briefing and direction to Team. Discipline, Attendance and absence management.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.
  • Staff reporting and regular 1:1s (documented).

What You’ll Need

Essential:

  • Relevant previous experience in Build Engineering.
  • Precise planning and project management skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of Quality and Engineering Management Systems, calibration and audit.
  • Continuous improvement ‘mind set’ with the ability to identify and implement robust solutions through delivery of appropriate enhancements.
  • Strong understanding electro-mechanical principles and underpinning fundamental theory.
  • Previous experience leading a diverse, high performing team.
  • Experience of cross functional collaboration and team working.
  • Good MS Office suite: Word, PowerPoint and Excel and experience of Google tools.
  • Strong stakeholder liaison, negotiation and management skill. 
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience.

Desirable:

  • CAD knowledge / 3D experience.
  • Familiarity with use Statistical Analysis to drive continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge and use of Tableau and Minitab data analytics.
  • Knowledge or FMEA.
  • Lean / Six Sigma Training and application.
