WHAT TO EXPECT 

JLR has a continuous stream of new product launches; quality in these vehicles must be flawless when each program tips into Mass Production. This role is part of the current car Body Engineering team on site in Solihull primarily covering the D7a platform as part of PVT. Body PVT are the current car Engineering team supporting delivery of the Engineering Body (EB) and PVT scorecard whilst providing Engineering support to the Manufacturing plant.

Body Engineering includes interior trim, exterior trim, handles/locks/mechs and BIW.

  • Warranty Occurrence R/1000
  • Roadside Assists A/1000
  • Warranty projects - initial problem definition throughput – Throughput %
  • AIMS problem definition throughput & resolution – Throughput %
  • First Time Through/Defect Free Vehicle %
  • PSW achievement (open to go)

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Based in Solihull reporting into the Body Engineering PVT LL6 supporting delivery of the EB scorecard
  • Leading project definition for Body Engineering related parts through the Find It/Fix It and Nerve Centre ASPIRE processes
  • In-plant support for delivery and introduction of all Engineering led changes
  • Rapid response to all manufacturing requests for support
  • Engineering approval for SCR’s, supplier led changes and request for support
  • WERS Alert generation for engineering driven issues, and WERS Alert engineering support for internal manufacturing and/or supplier manufacturing driven issues
  • Delivering engineering change onto current production vehicles, to eliminate customer quality/warranty issues
  • Supporting other Product Engineering functions to deliver engineering change onto current production vehicles, to eliminate customer quality/warranty issues
  • Delivery and/or support of the Product Engineering and plant scorecard

WHAT YOU NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience and knowledge working in an Engineering delivery team preferably with Body Engineering related systems
  • Familiar with supplier manufacturing processes
  • Strong structured problem-solving capability – Ideally 6 Sigma Greenbelt trained/certified
  • Knowledge/experience working within a Manufacturing environment (Automotive preferred)
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience but not essential

Desirable:

  • High level of IT literacy (MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Database usage, CAD system usage)
  • Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits and ergonomics including risk assessments
  • Ability to deliver presentations to work groups and senior plant management
