Clyde
The Quality Engineer (Fleet) is based within our Clyde business area.
As the Ministry of Defence's commercial partner at HMNB Clyde, Babcock provides specialist engineering support services, including the management of infrastructure and nuclear facilities. We also deliver operational maintenance, upgrades and repairs to support Royal Navy vessels, including the Vanguard and Astute-Class nuclear submarines.


The role
The difference our new Quality Engineer (Fleet) will make
As a Quality Engineer (Fleet) you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will provide assurance that Babcock's activities that deliver submarines and surface ships are safe and fit for purpose.


Day to day, you'll you will provide quality assurance support throughout the maintenance periods and its associated supply chain as well as delivery of its business area support and advice.


You will be working within a small team which is responsible for planned and reactive audits and product quality investigations within the Fleet Operations directive. You will also be a key part in the close out of Babcock related activities through auditing key quality documentation produced throughout the maintenance periods.
The Quality Engineer (Fleet) is based within the Quality team within the Fleet Compliance Department.

Essential experience

  • HNC in Relevant Engineering Discipline or Equivalent.
  • You should hold or have ability to obtain full SC Clearance
  • Desirable but not essential experience
  • CQI Level 3 Certificate and Chartered Member of CQI
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
  • Investigatory Report Writing
  • ISO14001 EMS Auditor/Lead Auditor Conversion
  • 7 Steps Systematic Process and Root Cause Analysis
  • Accident/Incident Investigation
  • Experience with Submarines
