The role of Refrigeration Engineer
Areas of responsibility will include
* Completion of all planned preventative maintenance and nuclear implicated work to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
* Identification and rectification of all system, manufacture, defects and alterations to ensure the continued availability and performance of HMNB Clyde Submarines, Surface Vessels and the Estate.
* Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
* Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems Of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policies.
* You will undertake fitting activities, repairs and inspections on refrigeration systems and equipment on all RN and other entitled Vessels and, when required, in other sections including the Estate.


Please note:
* That the role holder must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
* Hours of work will be Monday to Thursday - 8.05am to 4.45pm and Friday 8.05am to 12.05pm
* You must be eligible to gain and maintain UK SC security clearance for this role
* Although based at Clyde, there may be minimal support required for our Coulport site.
* You will need to be flexible as you may be asked to work occasional overtime


Essential Experience
* Previous experience gained in repairing and maintaining large scale refrigeration and air conditioning units
* Hold a recognised Refrigeration Engineering or Mechanical apprenticeship, qualified to SVQ level 3 as a minimum and hold a F Gas qualification.
* Experience of utilising Work to Risk, COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
* Experience of working in a marine engineering environment would be an advantage.


Experience and knowledge of the below desirable but not essential:
* HM Submarine and Ship Operating procedures
* HM Submarine and Ship Tag-out procedures
* Nuclear Procedures, Production Technical Instructions, Support Documentation
* Submarine, surface ship and the Estate refrigeration systems and equipment
* Relevant acceptance standards
* Interpretation of engineering drawings
* Relevant Quality Assurance documentation
* COSHH & safe systems of work
* Manufacture and repair of components, including use of machine tools and other workshop machinery
