Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: On average 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an RF Communications DSP Engineer, to join the Data Link Systems team. You'll be responsible for waveform and algorithm design, development and implementation on weapons system products with the team's activities spanning across the development lifecycle from research and concept development through to verification and validation.

With a sound understanding of DSP algorithms, theory and techniques at minimum at systems level you'll be working autonomously but also within a multi skilled team with the commitment to achieving project goals. Part of this role will also involve technical investigations, providing problem amendments and propose design solutions within a culture of innovative thinking.

This is a rapidly developing product area within MBDA, with many exciting opportunities to work on both new and established products. Our teams have a common goal for the delivery of product design solutions that meets the customer's requirements to the schedule and cost agreed.  Our projects offer you the opportunity to work with a specialist team developing and managing technically challenging technology within MBDA.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Familiarity with real-time digital signal processing systems
  • Understanding of waveform design and implementation
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink for waveform modelling
  • Systems modelling and auto-code generation
  • Firmware coding for DSP systems such as Verilog/VHDL
  • Implementation of DSP algorithms on to target hardware
  • Experience with C++
  • Knowledge of RF communications for weapon systems operating in a congested and contested EM environment
  • Requirements management and systems design
  • Technical leadership of junior engineers
  • Good communication skills with the ability to produce high quality written reports and presentations to internal and external customers
  • Comfortable with a blend of virtual and face to face collaboration
