Job Description

Who are we looking for?


A great opportunity has arisen at UKAEA within the (H3AT) Hydrogen-3 Advanced Technology department. We are seeking an individual who will be working with multiple departments across the organisation. There will be an expectation to work in radiological areas. Expectation to wear differing forms of RPE. May be required to travel for training.

What will you be responsible for?

- Assisting the Facility Supervisor with the routine running of the RPE facility, ensuring safe working practices of the team
- Acting as lead when progressing work within the facility and associated Section work. Work to progress will include the following: ensuring the effective cleaning of respiratory protective equipment (RPE), stock rotation of equipment, maintenance and issue of RPE, assisting in training in the use of RPE and Face fit testing
- Providing feedback on the progress of task-based activities to the Facility Supervisor and RPE/Services Manager
- Providing additional support across the Group as and when required, support across the section will include undergoing training in other areas and being able to cover for others of a similar role during absence

Qualifications

Essential Experience and Qualifications:


- Experience of working within Nuclear or other highly regulated Industry
- Experienced in the issue and maintenance of RPE
- Understanding of contamination control practices
- Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent
- Have demonstrable people management skills
- Able to become a Classified Beryllium and Radiation worker
- Willing and able to train to become Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS), Waste Responsible Officer (WRO) etc
- Experience in maintaining RPE
