The role

As a Satellite Communications Engineer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock have been awarded the contract to run and modernise the UK MOD satellite network, Skynet. As part of this programme, we are looking for an experience Satellite Communications Systems Engineer to lead the upgrade of Radio Frequency (RF) and Intermediate Frequency (IF) Systems.

Day to day, you'll be responsible for the design of Radio and Intermediate Frequency systems architecture as well as;

  • Specification of system elements
  • Overseeing the purchase and installation of equipment
  • System Test and Commissioning
  • Support to the new service design process
  • Specifying, purchasing and testing of VSAT terminals, to support the delivery of new services

This role is on a full time, permanent basis and will be based at either our Bordon or Corsham locations.

Essential experience of the Satellite Communications Engineer

  • Previous experience with a satellite network operator
  • Current knowledge of RF and IF architecture and best design practice
  • Experience in the specification and delivery of large satellite terminals
  • Satellite network system design experience

Qualifications for the Satellite Communications Engineer

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering Discipline

Please note that this position is subject to enhanced national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this may include obtaining SC, NNPPI or Developed Vetting (DV) level of security clearances).
