The Sea Ceptor Weapon Systems team is continuing to expand and seeks a System Engineer to work in this dynamic and challenging environment.

Pivotal to this role is enabling the delivery of Sea Ceptor to multiple customers concurrently, whilst managing adaptations for an increasing number of export customers.

Salary: up to£57,000 (depending on experience)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 3 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team

The opportunity:

Sea Ceptor is a very successful, growing, innovative, high profile maritime air defence system that has secured multiple UK and export contracts.

This role is within the Weapon Systems Functional Architecture team, being the primary interface within the Systems team for any decisions relating to the integration of a hatched launcher into the Sea Ceptor Weapon System architecture. This will consist of work package planning, budgeting and technical management to ensure the activities are completed on time, cost and quality. The role may in the future include the management of personnel to achieve the required output.

Key responsibilities:

- Representing the Systems team in any meetings with the sub-system definition teams and/or external stakeholders.

- Identifying/Defining any updates required to:

  • Sea Ceptor sub-systems, including any associated requirements.
  • The agreed physical constraints on the missiles and launchers.
  • The electrical interfaces between the Sea Ceptor equipment, missiles and launchers.
  • The environmental conditions for the munitions in the launchers.
  • Alignment, loading and unloading and handling constraints.
  • Installation constraints.
  • Agreeing updates to interface documentation with external stakeholders through engagement with the MBDA Delivery team.

- Support to System integration planning activity.

What we're looking for from you:

  • A strong appreciation of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, specifically with demonstrated experience in System architecture definition.
  • A strong motivation for delivery, enabled by an ability to work proactively and flexibly across a number of variant programmes for which relative priorities can change quickly;
  • An effective team player with strong interpersonal and influencing skills, essential to working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in building cohesion in the relationships between the Systems team and various interfacing teams;
  • Experience using DOORS is required.
  • Experience of working with internal and external customers.
