WHAT TO EXPECT

This is an exciting new role within a new and expanding team within Jaguar Land Rover. 

Currently we are seeking a Semiconductor Strategy Engineer to join our Electronics Hardware team, at our Gaydon site. The successful candidate will have the ability to work on transformational projects, including our ReImagine project, focusing on our next generation of luxury vehicles. This candidate will also play a key role in supporting Jaguar Land Rover find the newest technology and improving focus on the semiconductor use throughout our vehicles.

This team will support engineering and purchasing to manage a common set of semiconductors throughout the vehicle. The team will also provide supporting activities to the design teams reviewing our strategic semiconductor processor activities for future hardware development.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • To understand the life cycle of semiconductor products used within JLR.
  • To actively support engineering design teams in the use of appropriate semiconductors which align with our preferred supplier partners  
  • To support purchasing teams with sourcing or suitable semiconductors
  • To ensure there is a developed plan to manage product obsolescence
  • Build strong working relationships with manufacturers, distributors & sub-tier suppliers
  • Work with other design engineering teams and hardware compliance teams to ensure any hardware update programme includes obsolescence management
  • Assist the JLR ‘compute’ teams to develop long term strategy for main system processor strategy.
  • Assist the Supply Chain Team with any problem associated with the supply chain management role
  • Produce relevant supply chain reports regularly as and when required
  • Management of the JLR approved semiconductor component database

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Essential:

  • Solid understanding of electrical, electronic and electromechanical components with firm understanding of electronic design principles.
  • Problem solver with an agile way of working
  • Motivated by change management and ability to drive change
  • Strong communication skills from operational to executive level.
  • Relationship and Network builder – internal and external
  • Fast learner – with a curious mindset
  • Business acumen and strategic mindset.
  • Ability of being a strong team player in parallel of driving topics independently.

Desirable:

  • University degree, preferably in engineering or business Personal Profile
  • Previous experience in electronic component sourcing would be an advantage
  • Electronics component commodity management experience
