About the Role

We are pleased to be recruiting a Senior CNC Machinist to join the Workshop of UCL's Mechanical Engineering department.

The successful postholder will participate in an incredibly diverse range of activities ranging from the manufacture of student projects and research including experimental rigs and individual projects to helping with their installation. As such, we will rely on your know-how to program, set and operate CNC turning centres and milling centres.

Additionally you will help maintain our laboratories by repairing faulty equipment and manufacturing components for a broad range of equipment including combustion engines, wave simulation tanks and bespoke equipment.

Our department thrives on collaborative working and it is essential therefore that you are approachable and an effective communicator.

The ability to discuss engineering sketches and preliminary drawings with colleagues, advise on modification and further development of the design is also key.

You will have scope to use a wide range of machinery including milling, turning, EDM, Water-jet, and Grinding and 3D printing.

About You

The successful applicant will have

  • technical knowledge in a design / manufacturing engineering field
  • experience of precision manufacturing gained in a production environment using a wide range of tools and materials
  • experience of Fanuc and Heidenhain controls
  • experience of using 3D CAD software (i.e. Fusion 360 or Catia),
  • experience of CNC programming using CAM software and using conversational controls

Further Details

  • Salary range: £39,508 to £47,355 per annum
