Salary: £47,683 - £52,426 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What you'll be doing:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define HMI requirements and specifications
  • Design and develop an intuitive cockpit HMI that meet industry standards and regulations
  • Conduct user research to gain insights into user behaviours and preferences (e.g. via Hierarchical Task Analysis)
  • Create wireframes, and mock-ups to visualize HMI concepts, and support the prototyping for evaluation through full mission simulators
  • Test HMI designs on hardware and software platforms
  • Evaluate and improve HMI designs based on user feedback and usability testing with industry and customer test pilots
  • Support Flight Testing

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • A Degree in a STEM subject, or equivalent relevant experience / qualifications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and innovative environment
  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills
  • Experience of; Human Factors, and/or Systems Engineering

Desirable:

  • Education Modules in; Human Factors, and/or Systems Engineering
  • Experience of Computer Graphics, and/or Software Engineering
  • Experience in designing any type of User Interface such as web site or apps
  • Familiarity with DOORs and Visio
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 9241-210, MIL-STD-1472, DEF-STD-00-251) would be a plus

The Typhoon Cockpit Group:

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen within the Typhoon Cockpit Group, as a Senior Cockpit User Interface Design Engineer (HMI / UX). You will be working on cutting edge technology, designing how a pilot operates in the next generation of military aircraft, and playing a key role in designing and developing an intuitive and user-friendly HMI for the Eurofighter Typhoon Cockpit.

You will be a self-starter, happy in a fast-paced working environment with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions that enhance user experiences and support the mission-critical functions for the Typhoon multi-role combat aircraft.
