Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

Location: Preston- (Hybrid) - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £48,000 - Depending on experience and skills

What you'll be doing:

  • Activities working directly with Customers to understand their requirements & data
  • Development activities to support the embedding of MDM throughout BAE Systems
  • Activities to support the development of data governance/data quality practices in support of MDM & other Data services throughout BAE Systems
  • Activities supporting the operation of MDM tools throughout BAE Systems, providing advice & training as required

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience of working with MDM tools (Semarchy, TIBCO EBX, Informatica), using datasets from multiple business domains
  • Experience of working with customers on MDM projects to understand their requirements
  • Experience of communicating complex technical processes to customers in an understandable way
  • Experience of building data services including aspects of creating design specifications, data modelling/conditioning/integration, improving data quality, data governance, testing and deployment/support
  • Recent experience of working with SQL, writing queries using multiple tables, and interpreting results

Desirable:

  • Experience working with ETL tools such as SSIS
  • IT / Computer Science related degree or hands-on experience working in a Business Data/Master Data Management environment

The MDM team is a rapidly expanding team whose aim is to work with all areas of the business to embed MDM within the way BAE Systems operates.
