AWE is currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineer (Load Monitoring/Load Distribution).

Location: Aldermaston, Berkshire

Package: £47,690 - £60,000 pa (depending on suitability and level of experience)

What's a day like in the life of a Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer?

As a Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for

  • The delivery of professional engineering services to enable the Facilities Engineering Team Leader to deliver utility services to facilities, assets and equipment required by AWE

  • Carrying out load distribution calculations and electrical load monitoring to comply with all UK Legislation both Site Wide and on Individual Facilities

  • Undertaking electrical design activities, design reviews, calculations, change control, load coordination, load management, strategic assessments, configuration control, asset management, reliability engineering and other tasking, as directed

  • Engaging with operational areas, project teams, capital projects, design and technical authorities, senior management, and other estate areas

Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • A Technician Apprenticeship or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, with suitable additional experience (essential), or Accredited Honours degree

  • Prior operational and engineering experience in an industrial or utilities environment, in HV/LV, generation, distribution and building services including power transformers, switch gear, feeder pillars and cables

  • The ability to provide engineering capability across relevant networks, comprising a range of infrastructure facilities and associated plant and equipment

  • The ability to solve complex problems/issues using tested solutions, i.e. cable calculations to UK Legislation and MOD JSP375 & ESTC Standard No. 6. Part 1

  • Experience of working in a highly regulated environment with an understanding of nuclear and explosives area requirements would be beneficial
